French Country - Made mainly of light colored woods, there can be many elements that are part of the French Country style. With French Country kitchens, natural materials are an important element for walls, cabinetry and furniture --- usually including large pieces decorated with ornate carving.

Arts and Crafts - This kitchen style is definitely becoming more popular in recent times. With this type, glass doors and natural wood tones with a matte sheen are typical. What’s appealing is that this style can be eclectic and artistic.

Contemporary - Kitchens that are done in the contemporary style often use plastic laminates, special wood veneers, enamels, lacquers, or even metal foil laminates for finished surfaces. Another characteristic associated with this style are cabinet doors using frameless construction and no toe kick panel at the bottom.

Just as your home can come in many different styles, and built using a variety of materials, so too can your kitchen. It may not be absolutely necessary to select a kitchen design style that is in the same as your home; however, it is considered a good idea.
